Hemil Modi is a Senior Research Scientist at NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley. He is a maker who transforms vision into reality and plays a key role in some of NASA's most coveted internal R&D projects. He has a passion for developing sophisticated, self-aware systems and his work includes developing life detection missions/technology for Mars and Moons’ of Saturn and Jupiter, exploration technologies for extreme environments, empowering plant growth technologies for the Moon, enabling cell culture research on the International Space Station, designing Cubesat’s (type of miniaturized satellite) for astrobiology and developing sensors, systems for realizing drone traffic management. He is also a savvy aviator and a NASA drone pilot for fixed wings, helicopters and multirotors.
