The TiE50 Program

In the thriving milieu of smart technology startups, there are a handful of companies that shine because of their edgier idea and smarter operations – the TiE50! The TiE50 program returns for a third year by popular demand to continue its astounding success.

The 2010 and 2011 TiE50 winners accounted for more than $3B in valuation, and a significant number of them went on to have successful exits within just the last year. In 2012 we are excited to showcase once again the 50 most enterprising companies – the TiE50! Hear them speak live at the TiE50 presentations and find out for yourself what it is about their edgier idea and smarter operations that sets them up to be the next big success, IPO or acquisition.

TiE50 Awards program announced the 2012 TiE50 finalists in the following five segments after a rigorous screening process :-

Internet/Social Networking
Software/Cloud Computing
Life Sciences
Wireless/Mobile
Energy/Cleantech

An expert panel of judges from each of the 5 vertical segments have voted each of the companies on various criteria such as business model, customer references, number of users, executive team, prior experience of founders, IP, defensibility, funding status, etc. These judges know the segment and do their scoring in as objective way as possible. After all the scores are tallied the Top 10 winners from each of the vertical segments are selected.
